Stanley A. Hamilton passed way at the Four Peaks Hospital in Mesa, Arizona on September 24, 2026.  Stan was born in Dodge City, KS on May 27, 1955 to Leroy and Verna Mae (Brakhage) Hamilton and graduated from Dodge City Senior High School in 1973.  He married Mary Juaniece Smith on October 22, 1988.  Stan was very dedicated to Kansas Special Olympics during his time in Dodge City taking the polar plunge multiple times and serving as the basketball coach for more than 25 years.  He was especially fond of the oath of the special athletes which reads, “let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”  After retiring from a 35 year career at the Kansas Department of Transportation Highway Department, Stan and Juaniece move to the Valley of the Sun, where he was an active member and altar server of St. George Roman Catholic Church in Apache Junction.  Stan was a long time Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.  While living in Arizona, Stan never stopped cheering for Kansas State, the Royals or the Chiefs.  He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Juaniece and is survived by a son Lincoln Clay in Las Vegas, a sister Jo (Dennis), Witchita,  and  brothers Sheldon (Sandy) Witchita, Dennis (Tawnya), Dodge City, and Gerry (Joyce), Haysville and many nieces and nephews.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to:  Dodge City Dodgers Special Olympics, c/o Ron Just, 11089 Victory Lane, Dodge City, KS 67801.  A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Wright, Kansas.
