Mike passed away from congestive heart failure April 20, 2024. He was born July 4, 1938 in Sioux Falls, SD to George and Adelyne Gibson. At the early age of eight, Mike began his love of golf when his father joined the local Country Club.

Mike graduated from Washington High School Sioux Falls in 1956 where he became a basketball hero. In 2014 he was awarded the honor of being inducted to the high school Basketball Hall of Fame. He went on to attend the University of South Dakota for two years of Pre-med transferring to the University of Minnesota where he finished four years of dental school, first in his class.

Mike married Carla on July 2, 1960. Upon graduation in 1962, Mike enlisted in the US Navy as a dentist and was sent to Camp Pendleton Marine Base. That same year, Geoffrey Scott son of Carla and Mike was born. Mike applied to the USC Oral Surgery program where he was accepted for a three year program. Kristin Ann was born in 1966 while Mike completed his Oral Surgery residency. Upon completion, having such a love for golf, he opened his Oral Surgery Practice in Sunnyvale, California. After retiring they moved to Graeagle, California for the summer months. They also purchased a home at Red Mountain Ranch, AZ as their winter retreat. They joined Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club in the late 90’s and built a home in Gold Canyon, AZ where Mike passed away.

Mike is survived by Carla, son Geoffrey (wife Laura) daughter Kristin, and grandchildren, Madelyne, Kyle (wife Janie) and James. Mike is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mike will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
