LaVern Theodore Tofstad, 87, passed away on January 16, 2026, in Arizona. He was born on May 1, 1938, to Theodore and Edna Tofstad. LaVern spent his early years working hard on the family farm near Minot, North Dakota, where he learned the values of dedication and perseverance that guided him throughout his life.

On December 8, 1957, LaVern married Anna Klimpel, and together they shared a loving marriage in McIntosh, MN, where they raised a large and cherished family: Lyle, Lonnie, Leslie, Lori, Larry, Lynette, LeAnn, and Lynnae. LaVern was a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, and his family was the joy of his life.

LaVern worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He operated a large dairy farm for many years, instilling in his children the same values of hard work and perseverance that guided his own life. Later, he and Anna owned and ran the BB Café in McIntosh, where they welcomed friends, neighbors, and travelers with warmth and hospitality.

He is survived by his children and the many generations who carry on his legacy, as well as his siblings Vera and Julie. He was preceded in death by his wife Anna, his parents Theodore and Edna, and siblings LaVonne, Carol, Ronnie, and Jean.

LaVern will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his devotion to family, and the warmth he shared with all who knew him. He had a quiet, dependable way of helping family, friends, and anyone who needed support, and his generosity touched many lives. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness and hard work will live on in all who know him.
