Henry Davis Brown, Jr., 78, of Mesa, Arizona, entered the presence of his Lord on April 4, 2026, surrounded by the family who loved him deeply. Born on December 16, 1947, in Phoenix, Arizona, Henry lived a life marked by quiet strength, steady faith, and a kindness that made people feel at home in his presence.

Henry served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1972, a chapter of his life he carried with humility. He rarely spoke about his service unless someone asked, and even then, he preferred to focus on the people he served alongside rather than himself.

For more than 40 years, Henry was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana. He approached that calling with sincerity and a servant’s heart—always willing to pray with someone, lend a hand, or simply sit beside a person who needed company. His faith was not loud, but it was steady, lived out in the way he treated others.

Henry loved baseball from the time he was a boy, and that love never faded. He coached Little League for 15 years, guiding young players with patience and encouragement. He believed the game taught life lessons—teamwork, resilience, and the importance of showing up for one another. Many of his former players remember him not just as a coach, but as someone who believed in them.

Above all, Henry was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jan (Haire) Brown; his daughters Carrie (James) Baker and Nancy (Marco) Moreno; and his three granddaughters, Eleanor, Rebekah, and Anna, who brought him immeasurable joy. He cherished every moment with them—whether cheering from the sidelines, sharing stories, or simply watching them grow.

Henry’s life was shaped by small, faithful acts of love: a warm smile, a steady presence, a willingness to help without being asked. Those who knew him will remember his gentle spirit, his quiet humor, and the way he made people feel seen and valued.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Memorial service to be held at 1:00 on Saturday, May 16, at Valley Baptist Church, 555 S Mountain Rd, Mesa, AZ  85208
