Don Phelps was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on September 22, 1942 to Oscar G. Phelps and Clara T. (Glodoski) Phelps. He passed away on May 26th, 2022 in Apache Junction, Arizona.
He graduated from Mineral Point High School in May 1960, where he enjoyed playing football. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Air Force.
He moved to Davenport, Iowa and started working at Ralston Purina. He ended up working there for the next 40+ years. He married Marjorie Franklin and they raised two children, Kevin and Sherry. Kevin married Erica (Schroeder) and they have three children Emma, Karson and Ellyson. Sherry has one daughter, Abby. After his retirement, he moved to Apache Junction, Arizona and lived there until his death. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, bowling, watching westerns and spending time with Diane listening to music. He especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren watching them play sports and numerous other activities.
Besides his children and grandchildren, Don is survived by his brother Robert (Maria) Phelps and his niece Bernadette Burke. There are numerous cousins and second cousins, from both the Phelps and Glodoski sides of the family. Don is also survived by a special friend Diane Chiovatero of Mesa, Arizona.
Don’s remains will be cremated and brought back to Davenport, where a memorial service will be held in the near future.
