Raymond Paul Kohm of Gold Canyon, AZ, crossed through the gates of heaven at the age of 60 on November 18, 2025. He was born on February 16, 1965, in Caseyville, IL to Raymond Francis and Joan Marie Kohm. He grew up in the Baden neighborhood of St Louis before joining the military in February 1985 as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist.  He proudly served in the United States Air Force, dedicating 20 years to a life of service, honor, and unwavering commitment to his country. Tsgt Kohm received the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with six oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal during his time in service. His Air Force career took him to bases across the world: Williams AFB, Nellis AFB, Tonopah Test Range in Nevada, Osan AFB in Korea, Moody AFB, Al Jabbar Air Base in Kuwait, and Davis-Monthan AFB, where he worked with some of the most advanced aircraft ever built, including the T-38, F-117A Stealth Fighter, A-10A Warthog, U-2 Dragon Lady, F-4G Wild Weasel, and C-130. He was not only a skilled technician but a leader, serving as Aircraft Crash and Recovery Team Chief and an expert in emergency response for aircraft such as the F-4, F-15, F-16, F-111, F-117, B-1, B-52, and numerous Navy aircraft. His roles as Flightline Expediter, Assistant Flight Chief, and Phase Dock Chief reflected his commitment to excellence and his ability to inspire those around him. Ray’s call sign was “Rainman”. He served bravely during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Southern Watch. Following his military career, Ray worked for Honeywell Aerospace as an APU Assembly and Test Tech.

Ray met the love of his life, Deborah, while stationed at William AFB, Arizona. Their paths crossed at the NCO Club, and from that moment, their bond grew stronger with each passing day. What began as a chance meeting turned into a lifelong partnership of 39 years built on love, respect, and shared adventures. Together, they created a home filled with laughter and warmth, raising two wonderful children and cherishing every moment as a family. He enjoyed spending time on his boat, fishing, camping, bowling, barbequing, and playing bingo. He loved spending time watching his favorite sports: baseball, football, and NASCAR. He never missed a chance to root for his teams: the St. Louis Cardinals, Arizona Cardinals, and Arizona Diamondbacks. Ray was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9399 where he enjoyed volunteering and spending time.

Beyond his impressive career, he will be remembered for his integrity, his strength, and the way he touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege to serve alongside him. His legacy is one of courage, professionalism, and love for his country and for the people who meant the most to him. Ray leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory forever: his devoted wife, Debbie; his children, Ashley (Rob) and Brandyn. He was a proud Papa to his cherished grandchildren, Sophia, Levi, Emma, Freya, and Peighton. He is survived by his brother, Jamie (Susan), sisters-in-law Mandy, Lisa (Frank), and Jennifer (Morgan), former daughter-in-law Emelie, along with nieces and nephews: Seferina, Joseph, TJ, Josh, Harrison, Maxine, Tony, Lars, Axel, and Jaxson along with countless family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. He leaves behind his fur babies Bailey and Betty, who never left his side. His circle of family and friends was wide, and each one will remember his laughter, his kindness, and his love. Ray has reported for his final assignment in the skies above, where he joins the ranks of heroes who served before him. His devotion to duty and country will forever inspire those who follow. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory remain a blessing to all who loved him, for Ray will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

In Loving Memory of Ray, a Memorial Mass will be held at St. George’s Catholic Church on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Veterans of Foreign War Post 9399. Interment will take place on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the National Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Veterans of Foreign War Post 9399 or Post 7968.
