Susan Bernice Annemarie York was born August 17, 1977, in Mannheim, Germany, and entered into rest May 30, 2021 in San Tan Valley, Arizona.

Susan grew up in the Globe-Miami area, and attended Miami area schools, graduating from Miami High School in 1995. Following graduation, she moved to the Valley with friends, where she worked for various companies until poor health brought her back home.

Her hobby was arts and crafts, for which she had a real talent. Whether displaying dried flowers in glass or creating holiday wreaths, she was meticulous in her handicraft.

Susan was an open, friendly, generous, and caring person, with just enough sass to make her a genuine human being, or as the Germans would say, “ein Mensch”. Many of her friends felt they were better for having met her, and even strangers, after a first meeting, described her as warm, friendly, intelligent, and a bit of a spitfire.

She was predeceased by all her grandparents and her mother (Luise Halversen). She is survived by her father (Everett York/Betty), her sister (Heidi Lucas/John), and her mother’s two sisters and a brother in Germany, as well as many cousins.

The world will be a little colder and darker without her big heart and her bright smile. She will be sorely missed.

Grief never ends, but it changes.
It is a passage, not a place to stay.
Grief is not a sign of weakness
Nor a lack of faith:
It is the price of love.

A Celebration of Susan’s Life will be held for family, close friends, and co-workers, on Friday, August 20, 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at The Waggin’ Vineyard and Estate, 1540 E. South Street, Globe, Arizona.
