In loving memory of Robert “Bob” Basco, born November 27, 1940, in Chicago Illinois to Martin and Amelia Emily Basco. He had 3 brothers predeceased Martin Jr., James, and Tom, and sister Josephine Neumann who currently resides in Wisconsin.
He had a love and appreciation for cars, which led him to become a top automobile mechanic in the Chicago and Phoenix areas. This led to him owning and operating 2 full-service stations in Arizona. In the early 80’s, he moved back to the Chicago area, where he worked as a mechanic for Fisher Auto Body. After suffering an accident in 1986, he moved back to Arizona where he worked for a Phoenix-based security company, earning the rank of Lieutenant. Wanting to be closer to home and family, he then worked as a security guard for three East Valley adult communities.
His greatest love and happiness were his children who reside in Illinois, Florida, Ohio, and Arizona. He was humorous, thoughtful, kind, caring, giving, filling the needs of others before himself.
He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 33 years, 9 children (including 2 who predeceased him), 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Additionally, he leaves behind a close niece whom he played a significant role in raising.
A service celebrating memories of his life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Fri May 19th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2520 E Old West Hwy, Apache Junction, AZ.
