Margaret Ann Scott, 89, of Gold Canyon, Arizona, departed this life on June 11, 2025.

Margaret, who was known by her family and friends as Gay, was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on September 23, 1935. In her early life, she spent lots of time with her maternal grandmother, Gertrude, which is from whom she learned her incredible cooking and baking skills. A family favorite has always been Gay’s sour cream coffee cake, which her daughter-in-law and grandchildren will continue to always make for holidays and special occasions to come.

Gay attended college at Brown ,after college she moved to New York city and  worked for Women’s Day magazine , curating photos for the food columns, and occasionally writing articles. This is where she serendipitously met her future mother-in-law, and was introduced to her loving husband, Anthony Scott,  of Westport, Connecticut.

Tony, and Gay were married in New York in 1961. They made a beautiful home together in bustling New York City. In 1963 they welcomed their first son, Anthony into their lives. A few years later in 1965 they welcomed their second son, Jeffery. Finally, in 1970, they had their son, Jason. Gay and Tony raised their young family in Westbury, NY for a time before moving to Hollywood, Florida in 1970 after Jason’s birth. In Hollywood, Gay managed a medical office and had her hands full with her three sons.

In 1996 Gay and Tony retired to Arizona and lived in Gold Canyon for 29 years.

Gay is survived by her husband, Anthony, and her sons: Tony (Donna), Jeff (Margie), and Jason. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chelsea, Lauren (Dylan), Julia, Matthew, and Hailey. Gay was preceded in death by her brother, parents, many other loving family members, and quite a few good dogs. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her!

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley , Phoenix ,AZ.
