Bobby Lee Hall, was born at home on December 15, 1935, in Phoenix, Arizona, and passed away on September 7, 2025, in Apache Junction, Arizona.
He was the beloved son of Birdie and Buster, and the oldest of four children, growing up alongside his siblings Jerry, Melvin, and Gloria Ann. His childhood was spent helping on his father’s dairy farm, where he learned responsibility and the value of hard work early on, often beginning his mornings by milking cows.
He began his education in Sacaton, Arizona, attending first and second grade there before his family moved to South Phoenix. He continued his schooling at Roosevelt Elementary and later at Phoenix Union High School, where he built lasting friendships through football and his life as a true cowboy. Those friendships and the memories he made during those years stayed with him throughout his life.
In January of 1954, he married Barbara June Hopkins. Later that same year, he joined the Marines, proudly serving his country overseas in Japan. When their time with the military ended, they returned to Arizona and began building a family rooted in love and strength. Together they were blessed with three daughters: Brenda Mather, Eileen Hall, and Sherry White. In time, that love extended to five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immeasurable pride and joy.
A hardworking man, he dedicated his life to road construction, with a special skill as a blade operator. His commitment to his craft and his strong work ethic were admired by all who worked alongside him.
Outside of work, he found joy in simple but meaningful passions. He was a devoted Arizona State football fan, proudly holding season tickets for 34 years. He also loved the outdoors—whether roping or fishing, he embraced the peace and freedom those pastimes brought him.
Above all, he will be remembered for the love he had for his family, his dedication to his work, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. His legacy lives on in the lessons he passed down, the memories he created, and the family who will carry his spirit forward.
We remember not only what he accomplished, but the love, laughter, and steadfast presence he gave to everyone who knew him.
