Kreg S. Warrick, age 59 of Box Elder SD passed away at his home in Arizona February 3, 2026. A celebration of Kreg’s life will be held at a later date in Rapid City, SD.
Kreg was born on November 24, 1966, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Ron and Betty (Williams) Warrick. He spent most of his life in and around Rapid City, except when traveling for work or for fun. He grew up alongside three brothers—David, Gary, and Rick—and was later joined by a half-sister, Chris. Kreg graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1985 and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 2016.
Kreg dedicated more than two decades of his career to Black Hills Energy, where he worked as a project manager. He also proudly served in the South Dakota Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Specialist.
Kreg married Nicole (Bader), and together they split their time between Box Elder, South Dakota, and Apache Junction, Arizona. Through his marriage to Nicole, Kreg gained the joy of family, welcoming three stepchildren and two step-grandchildren into his life. Kreg loved being around people, and even in the short time he lived in Arizona, he built many meaningful friendships—everyone seemed to know him, and he was always greeted with a smile and a hello.
Kreg was a true “get-things-done” kind of guy, especially as he prepared Nicole for his departure. He wanted everything done right and aligned with his vision—and he made sure it was. During his illness, Kreg and Nicole experienced countless acts of kindness from others, which meant a great deal to them.
Kreg loved to travel, often finding himself on warm beaches enjoying the sunshine and scenery. He could fix just about anything, often researching a task thoroughly before tackling it. He was tech-savvy, enjoyed automation, and lived by the saying, “You get what you pay for.” Kreg appreciated the finer things in life and truly lived life big.
His hobbies reflected his larger-than-life personality—remote control cars, airplanes, and helicopters, hot rods, and especially Corvettes, several of which he owned during his life. A fortune cookie once gave him a motto he embraced fully: “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” Even as his health declined, Kreg’s determination never wavered; he invested in a carbon fiber, lightweight lithium-ion battery-powered wheelchair that allowed him to maintain his mobility and independence.
Family remained deeply important to Kreg. He cherished reconnecting with relatives at Williams family reunions and was especially grateful for that time together. He and his father shared breakfast every Saturday until Ron’s passing—moments that meant the world to them both. Kreg consistently held family in the highest regard.
Nicole provided saint-like care throughout Kreg’s illness, ensuring his wishes were honored—whether working on their home, heading to the casino, taking golf cart drives, or going out to eat with friends and family. Her devotion allowed Kreg to continue living life on his terms for as long as possible.
Kreg is survived by his wife, Nicole; his stepchildren, Tayla Pulse, Alyssa Pulse, and Keana Walton; his step-grandchildren, Avionne and Addyson; and his half-sister, Chris Gargus. He was a beloved nephew, uncle, and cousin to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Gary Soyland, David Soyland, and Rick Soyland.
Rest in peace brother. I was truly a pleasure to have known you.
