Frances Ann Dreiling, age 84, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim McBroom; daughter Teresa Fromm (Kenny); sons Mark Dreiling (Gina), Paul Dreiling (Rhonda), and John Dreiling (Shelly); brother Bill Roth; sister Mary Jean Hillerman (Ron); six cherished grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Frances lived a vibrant, full life and was known for her adventurous spirit, deep love for nature, and a heart that welcomed all. She was a proud member of the Kansas City Ski Club and had a passion for horses, especially her beloved Hemmingway (“Hemmi”). Together, they explored trails from Kansas City to the mountains of Arizona, creating countless memories along the way.
She worked as a volunteer at the Superstition Mountain Museum – Lost Dutchman Museum. Frances received George Johnston Extraordinaire Volunteer Award of 2020. She also got a cornhole trophy while in rehab!
A lifelong lover of plants and flowers, Frances held a degree in horticulture and especially adored her irises and cacti. Her green thumb and giving heart led her to volunteer at Powell Gardens in Kansas City, where she shared her knowledge and joy of gardening with others.
Frances dedicated many years of service to the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Kansas City and later found joy working at the Superstition Mountain Museum – Lost Dutchman Museum in Arizona. She loved connecting with travelers, swapping stories, and sharing the rich history of the region.
Travel was a lifelong passion of hers—Frances never missed a chance to meet new people and explore new places. Her enthusiasm for life, laughter, and learning left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Frances once said,
“When my time in this world comes to an end, gather my friends who know me best, play some great music, mix glitter in with my ashes, and let the wind take me places I never got a chance to see. But most importantly, remember me by living the rest of your life smiling.”
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frances’s honor to the Superstition Mountain Museum – Lost Dutchman Museum, a place that held a special place in her heart.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Noon, November 9th, 2025 at the Superstition Mountain – Lost Dutchman Museum, 4087 E Apache Trail, Apache Junction, AZ 85119.
