Lisa (Voorhis) Abbatomarco, 61, of Gold Canyon, AZ, passed away on February 16, 2023, from complications due to the disease of scleroderma. Lisa was born in Hackensack, NJ, on December 6, 1961, to William Voorhis (deceased) and Barbara (Ploesser) Thomas. She graduated from Hackensack High School, a captain of the Color Guard, and went on to receive her programming certificate from the Computer Processing Institute in Paramus, NJ.

Lisa took pride as one of Santa’s elves as a computer programmer and distribution systems analyst for Toys R Us to get the toys to Santa’s workshop.

Lisa is survived by her husband Robert, their son Benjamin, her sisters Karen (Voorhis) Berenbaum and Anna May (Voorhis) Thurchak, and mother Barbara.

Despite the crippling health challenges from this disease, she never let it define her and lived life to the fullest.

She loved her kitties, playing mahjong and bunco with the girls, completing the daily crossword puzzle, reading the books of Erin Hilderbrand, going to the theatre, traveling, attending baseball games around the country, routing for the Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Giants, being a “band wife” attending Robert’s many musical performances, knowing all the words to 1970’s pop and rock songs, tolerating Robert’s bad jokes and puns, the music of Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Bruce Springsteen and the Grateful Dead, and tooling around in her 2016 Go Mango Dodge Challenger Super Bee. She very much enjoyed the desert life with its saguaro cactus and majestic mountains.

Her wonderful spirit, joy, and love of life will be celebrated on Friday, February 24th,at 2:00 p.m., at Superstition Cremation and Funeral Services, 398 E Old West Hwy, Apache Junction.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Scleroderma Research Foundation.
