Betty J. Donahay Obituary

Betty J. Donahay, 73, of Sinclairville passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016 in her home.

She was born June 22, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Darwin and Maybelle Mapes Burnett.

Betty was employed by Livermoore Logging in Cassadaga and prior to retirement was employed by Park United Methodist Church in Sinclairville.

She was a member of the Stockton Community Church and was a member of the churches Puppet Team. Charities that Betty donated to were International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and St. Labre Indian School of Ashland, Montana. In earlier years Betty was a member of the First Assembly of God, Erie PA, the churches choir, and had served as a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Betty enjoyed horseback riding, Arizona cowboys, western movies, knitting, crocheting, and puppeteering.

Surviving are her husband John B. Donahay Jr., who loved her dearly – they were married May 23, 1988; four children: Edie Anderson of Fostoria, Ohio, Debbie Brady of Hobbs, New Mexico, William Herd of Apache Junction, AZ, and Shawn Slattery of Pittsburgh, PA; eleven grandchildren, Sabbath and Damien whom live locally; eight great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Dorothy Zimmer and Kathryn Anderson, and a brother William Burnett.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Stockton Community Church, with a luncheon to follow. Betty will be buried in Valley View Cemetery, Mammoth, Arizona.

Memorials may be donated to Stockton Community Church, 4554 Railroad Ave. West, Stockton, NY 14757.
